About

Pablo Flórez Valencia is a Medellín-based forestry engineer and bird guide who has been birding professionally in Colombia since 2000. He is a co-founder of Fundación ProAves, helped establish several private bird reserves, and built his early career around Yellow-eared Parrot conservation, the subject of his university thesis. After two decades in the field he has personally recorded more than 1,710 species in Colombia. In 2010 Pablo founded Multicolor Birding Colombia, his own tour company, and has since written the well-regarded site guide Birdwatching in Colombia (with Jurgen Beckers), which describes 127 birding sites across nearly every department of the country. Multicolor Birding partners with Rainforest Trust and donates a share of profits to habitat purchases, reflecting Pablo's strong conservation orientation. Clients consistently note his patience, English fluency and unusually deep knowledge of where to find specific species. He runs both fixed-departure tours and fully customized itineraries, with strongholds in Antioquia, the Western and Central Andes, Santa Marta and the Inírida region.
