Birding Sri Lanka

Tour guideSoloRegional

About

Birding Sri Lanka is the long-running personal operation of Chandima 'Jaya' Jayaweera, based outside Colombo in Kelaniya and active in the field for some two decades. Tours cover the full island circuit — Sinharaja and the wet-zone rainforests for the country's 30-plus endemics, the highland tea country around Nuwara Eliya, and the dry-zone national parks at Yala and Bundala. In addition to birds, Jaya works fluently with mammals, dragonflies, and butterflies, and is an active wildlife photographer. Signature targets include endemics such as Sri Lanka Blue Magpie, Sri Lanka Frogmouth, Serendib Scops Owl, Chestnut-backed Owlet, and Layard's Parakeet.
