About
Yucatán Birding Tours is a Mérida-based outfit founded by field biologist Luis Trinchan, built around a small team of five guides spread across the peninsula and Cozumel Island. The guide roster includes Luis's brother Ramón Trinchan in Mérida and the surrounding state, nature photographer Elvis Jiménez and Melba Aguilera on Cozumel, and Axel Vásquez covering Akumal and the Uxuxubí region, which lets them run bilingual tours wherever clients land.
The published programme runs from three-hour entry-level excursions up to full-day specialty trips, with custom multi-day itineraries on request. Northern Yucatán departures focus on the peninsula's endemics and near-endemics, while the Cozumel programme targets the island's localised specialties such as the Cozumel Emerald and Cozumel Vireo. Recent trip reports and dated posts from 2025-2026 confirm the company is actively running and adding seasonal departures.
