About

Yucatan Birding Tours is a Merida-based outfit founded and led by field biologist Luis Trinchan, who runs trips with a small Yucatecan team that includes his brother Ramon Trinchan and guides Elvis Jimenez, Axel Vasquez and Melba Aguilera. The company specialises in the Yucatan Peninsula's regional endemics and operates from short half-day excursions in the Merida hotspots up to multi-day circuits of eight days or more. Itineraries typically string together the dry scrub and saltworks of Celestun and Rio Lagartos, the Puuc Hills around Uxmal, the Calakmul tropical lowlands and Cozumel for the island endemics. Tours run in English and Spanish and target the Yucatan endemic set, the Mexican Sheartail, Black Catbird, Ocellated Turkey and the Cozumel specialties.
