About
WildSlovenia is a Slovenia-based wildlife tour outfit specialising in the country's exceptional pocket of central European biodiversity, where the limestone Karst, the Dinaric beech-fir forest, the Julian Alps and the Adriatic coast all sit within a few hours of one another. The company runs guided one-day trips and longer custom tours built around birds, but also widens the lens to include mammals, butterflies and orchid-rich meadows.
Flagship outings include the Dinaric forests around Lake Cerknica for territorial woodpeckers and forest owls, the Karst escarpments for Wallcreeper and meadow specialities, the Julian Alps in summer for high-alpine flora and Rock Ptarmigan, and the Northern Adriatic wetlands for autumn and winter waterbirds. Brown Bear, Alpine Ibex and a long list of butterflies feature alongside the birding.
Guides work primarily in English with local Slovenian, and tailor itineraries for birders, photographers and broader natural-history travellers. The operation is small and owner-led, with a focus on quiet sites, ethical fieldcraft and the country's endemic feel rather than a big international portfolio.
