About
Wildside Nature Tours is a US-based birding, wildlife, and photography tour operator that has been guiding clients since 1993. The company was founded by Kevin Loughlin — a long-time professional wildlife photographer and naturalist whose trip to Belize sparked the original concept — and is associated with Pennsylvania, with team members also operating out of Cape May, New Jersey. Endorsements from naturalists such as Greg Miller and Kenn Kaufman reflect the operator's standing within the North American birding community.
The company's catalogue spans six continents. North American departures cover everything from Maine's pelagic puffin and warbler routes, Massachusetts winter alcid trips, Michigan's Magee Marsh warbler migration and Kirtland's Warbler, Minnesota's boreal owls and grouse, southern California's island and desert endemics, to New Mexico's snow goose and Sandhill Crane spectacles at Bosque del Apache and rosy-finches at Sandia Crest. Caribbean and Latin American programmes include Cuba's 26 endemics, Hispaniola's 30+ endemics in the Dominican Republic, Jamaica's 28 endemics, the Galapagos aboard a 14-passenger yacht, and Belize, where Kevin first fell for the tropics.
Further afield, the company runs a Sahara-edge tour in Morocco, the Doñana–Extremadura–Pyrenees circuit in Spain, and an India trip built around the Amur Falcon roost spectacle in Nagaland followed by Kaziranga. The catalogue is rounded out with photography workshops, 'Big Year' style listing tours, and small-ship expedition cruises, all delivered through expert leaders and intentionally small group sizes.
