About
Wild Sumatra is a community-based Sumatran ecotourism network founded in 2010, with operating bases in the Kerinci valley of Jambi province and in neighbouring Bengkulu. The company runs small-group, low-impact birding, jungle-trekking and cultural itineraries inside Kerinci Seblat National Park - one of the most important reserves in the Sundaic region - and channels operating profits into local conservation and community-development projects.
Its birding programme centres on the Mount Kerinci slopes and the Hutan Adat Lempur forest, with staked-out access for the Critically Endangered Sumatran Ground-Cuckoo and reliable sites for Schneider's Pitta and Bronze-tailed Peacock-Pheasant.
