Western Isles Wildlife

Western Isles Wildlife is the sole bird and wildlife tour operator based in Scotland's Outer Hebrides, run by Steve Duffield from North Uist and operating since 2007. The business is built on Duffield's deep, year-round knowledge of the archipelago's birds, cetaceans, and rare-sighting hotspots, and he is widely regarded as the local authority on Hebridean rarities. Programmes include themed all-inclusive trips through the spring and summer such as Midsummer Mingulay, Corncrake and Skua, and Corncrake and Phalarope tours, plus autumn vagrant-hunting weeks. Group sizes are kept very small, and bespoke private guiding is also available for visitors who want to be steered to specific species or sites.
