About
West Coast Birdwatching is run by Pembrokeshire-based guide Dave Astins, who has spent nearly three decades birding the rugged Welsh coast. From a base near Haverfordwest, he offers half-day, full-day, and bespoke trips throughout the county, including Skomer Island for its seabird colonies and pelagic charters out into the Celtic Deep for shearwaters, storm-petrels, and cetaceans.
Beyond Wales, Astins leads occasional international tours to destinations including the Canary Islands, Oman, Georgia, Armenia, and Morocco, and also takes on survey and consultancy work. Group sizes are kept small and trips are pitched to suit either beginners or experienced birders looking for a local specialist who really knows the patch.
