About

Walk With Jith is a Sri Lankan birding, wildlife, and nature tour operator established around 2002 by Prasanjith "Jith" Caldera. The company is based at 778/B Millagahawatta Road in Malabe, on the outskirts of Colombo, and runs custom itineraries across the full length of the island. Caldera came to guiding from a research background. He served as a Lieutenant in the Sri Lanka Navy, studied Wildlife Conservation and Management, was a founding member of the National Bird Ringing Programme in Sri Lanka, and worked as a field supervisor for bird studies in the Sinharaja World Heritage Rainforest between 2003 and 2005. He also co-produced the "Sounds of Sinharaja" audio CD and holds a Tourist Guide Licence from the Sri Lanka Tourist Board. The company specialises in tours that mix bird and mammal watching with cultural and community visits. Scientific advisors include Dr. Eben and Dr. Uromi Goodale, and trip reports filed by clients from more than a dozen countries provide consistent documentation of Sri Lankan endemics such as Blue Magpie, Frogmouth, Serendib Scops Owl, and Red-faced Malkoha.
