About
Ulva's Guided Walks is a small, owner-operated outfit on Stewart Island (Rakiura) in southern New Zealand, run by a direct descendant of the island's first peoples. Walks focus on bird watching and botany across the predator-free Ulva Island scenic reserve and the surrounding podocarp forests of Rakiura.
The operation holds Department of Conservation approval and Qualmark Gold certification, with exclusive guided kiwi spotting rights at the Mamaku Point Conservation Reserve. Group sizes are deliberately small, allowing close encounters with Stewart Island Brown Kiwi, saddlebacks, parakeets and the forest birds that thrive in Rakiura's predator-controlled bush.
