About
Sweden Fishing & Birding is a husband-and-wife operation run by Craig and Kristin King from their home base in Skivsjo, deep in the Vindeln forests of Vasterbotten in northern Sweden. Kristin is Swedish with family roots in the north, while Craig leads the fishing side of the business; together they offer guided birding holidays and fishing trips during the long boreal summer.
Their guided tours specialise in the iconic owls, woodpeckers and grouse of the boreal forest, with the Great Grey Owl, capercaillie and black grouse as flagship targets. The owners report some 180 species visible within close range of the lodge, and trips run from May through September, with shorter day and evening outings available outside peak season.
Because everything is run from a single base in the taiga, itineraries can be tailored to fitness level and interest, mixing dawn lek visits, lake birding by boat in midsummer, and chances at moose and northern lights when conditions allow.
