About
Swallow Birding & Wildlife is a small UK-based holiday company founded in 2006 by Annette Adams and Steve Grimwade, operating from the Saltmarsh Coast in Essex on the edge of East Anglia. The two-person partnership focuses on small-group birdwatching and natural-history holidays, marketing themselves on the principles of good value, relaxed pace and broad wildlife coverage that takes in insects, flowers and photography alongside birds.
Their programme combines local day trips in the East Anglian and Kent coast areas with longer international tours. UK destinations centre on Norfolk, Kent and the Saltmarsh Coast, while overseas itineraries reach the Netherlands' polders for spring birding, southern Sweden for autumn raptor migration, Estonia's Baltic coast in spring, Finland's taiga, the Spanish steppes of Extremadura, Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands and Goa in winter for Asian passerines.
After nearly two decades of guiding, Adams and Grimwade have built a loyal repeat clientele drawn to the small group sizes and the husband-and-wife team's hands-on leadership style on every departure.
