Socotra Eco-Tours

Socotra Eco-Tours is a community-based operator on Yemen's Socotra Island, the UNESCO-listed archipelago in the Arabian Sea famous for its Dragon's Blood Trees and exceptional level of endemism. The company is run by Rudwan Mubarak Ali from Hadibo, the island's main town, and works with local guides who hold university qualifications in ecotourism, community development, and environmental studies. For birders, Socotra is a single-destination must-see, hosting more than half a dozen single-island endemics found nowhere else on Earth. Tours combine birding with hiking on the Dixam Plateau, marine excursions to the island's Marine Protected Area, and visits to the endemic flora that make the archipelago unique. The operator holds a Certificate of Achievement from the Socotra Office of the Yemeni Ministry of Tourism and has hosted diplomatic and corporate groups in addition to independent travellers.
