About
Skye Christopher G. Haas is a birder, naturalist, tour guide and field biologist based in Marquette on the shores of Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. He specialises in migration counts and seabird surveys, with fifteen years on state breeding-bird atlases and a personal tally of more than 1,026,000 migrating waterbirds counted at Cape May.
Through his Borealis Birding business Skye runs tours focused on the boreal forest, raptors and migration spectacles of northern Michigan, and he also leads trips in South Texas, Colorado and North Carolina as a guide for Eagle-Eye Tours. He is a founding member of the Brockway Mountain Hawk Watch, a former chair of the Laughing Whitefish Audubon Society and a former member of the Michigan Bird Records Committee, and has worked offshore on Atlantic seabird and cetacean research with NOAA.
