About
Shetland Seabird Tours is a daily seabird boat operator running from Victoria Pier in Lerwick Harbour to the cliffs and stacks of Noss National Nature Reserve and Bressay. Founded in 2016 by skipper and naturalist Phil Harris, the company specialises in close-range encounters with the gannet colony at Noss, which holds more than 25,000 birds.
Tours run from April to October on a scheduled 2 to 2.5 hour schedule (typically 09:45, 12:45 and 15:45), with photographer Rebecca Nason joining as wildlife guide on selected dedicated photography trips. Identification charts are provided in five languages, making the operation popular with international visitors.
The core product is sea-based — gannet plunge-diving sessions, guillemot and razorbill cliffs, and chances at cetaceans en route — rather than wider Shetland birding tours.
