About

Shanghai Birding is a China-focused birding tour operator built around the eastern China migration corridor, with its signature site at Cape Nanhui, 85 km south-east of downtown Shanghai. Founded by American birder and writer Craig Brelsford, the operation also fields experienced local guides such as Cape Nanhui specialist Chloe Kan. Beyond the Yangtze coast, the team runs tours into many of China's headline birding provinces — Sichuan, Yunnan, Qinghai, Xinjiang, Hainan, Fujian, and Heilongjiang for the Lesser Khingan Mountains — and has documented trips into eastern Kazakhstan and the Caucasus of Georgia. The website hosts an unusually deep set of trip reports, species accounts, and site guides for the East Asian flyway. Tours are tailored for visiting birders, including business travellers wanting a single day around Shanghai as well as longer multi-province expeditions.
