About

Seagrape Tours is an eco-tour company founded in 2014 by Ilja Botha and her family to offer nature, birding, history and art tours across both the Dutch and French sides of St. Martin/St. Maarten. Following Ilja's relocation to the Netherlands, the company was taken over in 2021 by Nascha Kagie and Werner van de Zilver, who continue to run small-group island tours with a sustainability and conservation focus. The half-day birding itinerary moves through fresh and salt ponds, mudflats, rocky and sandy coastlines and dry low forest, picking up Caribbean endemics and residents as well as seasonal migrant shorebirds and waterbirds. Group size is capped (the company advertises a maximum of six guests per mixed tour) and itineraries can be tailored to specific target species on request.
