About

Royle Safaris is a Manchester-based wildlife travel company that runs a global programme of mammal-focused expeditions alongside dedicated birding holidays. The Andalusia birding trip is one of its flagship European itineraries, covering the wetlands of Doñana, the dehesa oak woodlands of the Sierra Morena, and the raptor migration bottleneck at the Strait of Gibraltar. Though best known for big-mammal trips to India, Nepal, and other targeted destinations, the Spain holiday is run as a true birder's tour with more than 200 species possible, targeting Iberian specialties such as Spanish Imperial Eagle and Northern Bald Ibis, while keeping the option to look for Iberian lynx and other mammals along the way. Ground logistics in Spain are handled with local birding guides, including long-time Andalusia specialist Jose, with itineraries running in spring to coincide with peak resident-breeder activity and the return of trans-Saharan migrants.
