Retorno Photo Tours is a Colombian bird-photography specialist led by photographer David Casas L. The operator builds tours around Colombia's exceptional avian diversity — the country hosts more than 1,950 species, including roughly 170 hummingbirds — with itineraries departing from regional hubs including Medellín, Cali, Pereira, Santa Marta, Bogotá, Pitalito and Puerto Asís. Programming focuses on the photogenic guilds Colombia is famous for: hummingbirds, toucans, tanagers, manakins, antpittas, raptors including Harpy and Ornate Hawk-Eagles, quetzals and Andean Cock-of-the-rock. Tours cover the Andes, the Caribbean coast, the Llanos and the Chocó biogeographic region. The company also extends into Brazil with itineraries in the Atlantic Forest and Pantanal, and complements its bird work with mammal photography for spectacled bear, jaguar and primate targets.
