Red Tail Adventures

Red Tail Adventures is a Reno, Nevada based outfitter founded by Kirk Hardie, a biologist who has guided nature tours since 2005 and holds a Master of Science in Biology from the University of Nevada, Reno. The company is the leading birding guide service for the Lake Tahoe Basin, the northern Sierra Nevada, and the Great Basin, three landscapes that together hold an unusually rich mix of montane, sagebrush, and high-desert specialties. Trips can be tailored around specific targets such as the reliably accessible Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches of the Tahoe area, Mountain Quail and Pine Grosbeak in the Sierra, or Himalayan Snowcock and Greater Sage-Grouse out in the Nevada Great Basin. In addition to private birding outings, Kirk teaches ornithology at Sierra Nevada College and offers broader nature experiences and presentations.
