Rahul Alvares

Rahul Alvares is a Goa-based wildlife guide, writer, and photographer based in Parra in North Goa. He is well known in India for his work with reptiles - he is sometimes referred to as Goa's 'snake-catcher' - and has expanded his guiding into bird watching, butterflies, and nocturnal expeditions for nightjars and amphibians. His custom excursions favour less-visited corners of Goa and the surrounding Western Ghats, including Bondla and Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuaries and longer trips into Dandeli and Mollem National Park. He also runs wildlife photography workshops of one to three days. His work has been profiled in Lonely Planet Magazine India and TimeOut Mumbai.
