About

Prairie Wind Birding Tours is run by Kent Hubbert, a retired educator, and Robyn Hubbert, a semi-retired farmer, out of Kearney, Nebraska in the Platte Valley. The operation focuses on close-range observation of Greater Prairie-Chickens dancing and booming at the lek from comfortable padded viewing blinds positioned about a mile from the access point. The blinds are designed with room for extensive camera equipment, making the tours equally suited to birders and photographers. The spring lekking season is timed to complement visits during the Sandhill Crane migration along the Platte River, with the 2026 season opening for bookings in December 2025.
