Patrick O'Donnell is a Niagara Falls-born writer and birding guide who has been studying birds in Costa Rica since 1992 and guiding visitors since 2000. He runs the long-running Costa Rica Living and Birding blog at birdingcraft.com, contributes to 10,000 Birds, and has authored a 900-plus-page ebook, How to See, Find, and Identify Birds in Costa Rica.
Alongside guiding he is a co-founder of Birding Field Guides, which publishes mobile field guide apps for Costa Rica, Panama, and Belize together with Michael Mullin and Randall Ortega Chaves. His geographic range covers most of the country, with particular depth in the Caribbean foothills and Central Valley birding around his home base.
