About
Ornis Birding Expeditions is a globally distributed birding tour company co-founded by Australian guide Joshua Bergmark and Spanish guide Daniel López-Velasco, both well known on the international listing scene. The team is geographically dispersed, with guides based in Australia, Spain, Switzerland, Brazil, Canada, the UK and Guatemala, allowing the company to run native-language, regionally specialised tours across most of the major bird continents.
The operator's hallmark is what it describes as cutting-edge itineraries that are constantly modified to maximise field time at the newest and most productive sites worldwide. Recent flagship trips include the Atlantic Odyssey seabird voyage out to Ascension, Saint Helena and Tristan da Cunha, Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego in Chile, western Mexico's endemic-rich Sierra Madre, Java and Bali with its critically endangered Sundaic endemics, and tours to Madagascar, Antarctica and Mongolia.
Further guiding firepower comes from Julien Mazenauer, Donna Belder, Joachim Bertrands, Eduardo Patrial, Daniel Terrington, Chris Venetz, Alex Berryman, Diego Calderón-Franco, Josh Jones and Daniel Aldana Schumann, giving Ornis deep coverage of the Neotropics, Asia, Africa, Australasia and the Western Palearctic.
