About
Maitreya Tours is the operation of Ladakh-born birder and wildlife photographer Dorjey Daya, who has spent more than a decade photographing and documenting high-altitude birdlife in the Indian Trans-Himalaya. He has personally recorded more than 200 species in the region.
The flagship 10-night Ladakh birding itinerary works between roughly 3,500 and 4,500 metres, covering the high-altitude lakes of Tsokar and Tsomoriri and other restricted-permit areas reserved for foreign visitors. Target species include Black-necked Crane, Bar-headed Goose, Tibetan Sandgrouse, Golden Eagle and Upland Buzzard. Trips run from June through September.
