Johan Chaves

Johan Chaves is a Manuel Antonio-based birding and nature guide who grew up in the area and has been operating as an independent guide since at least 2013. He is consistently top-rated on TripAdvisor and has been quoted in mainstream travel coverage including the Los Angeles Times and Fodor's. He runs short half-day birding and nature walks in Manuel Antonio National Park (his core territory) plus longer custom itineraries to nearby Pacific-slope sites such as Carara National Park and the Talamanca cloud forest at San Gerardo de Dota for Resplendent Quetzal. Alongside birding he offers bird and wildlife photography tours and macro work.
