About
Jason Lara is a native Boqueteño bird guide based in Boquete in Panama's Chiriquí province, running fully customised, private bilingual tours throughout Western Panama. His core product is half- and full-day birding around Volcán Barú — the eastern slope above Boquete and the western slope around Volcán and Cerro Punta — with extensions across the Continental Divide into Bocas del Toro and into Darién on request.
Lara is profiled by 10,000 Birds in their Bird Guides of the World series and has a long Tripadvisor track record going back over a decade. He emphasises one-on-one bookings (clients deal directly with him rather than a reservation desk) and pairs birding with coffee-farm and archaeological tours when groups want a mixed itinerary.
Typical species lists from his Western Panama outings run 50–80 species per day, including highland endemics shared with Costa Rica's Talamanca range.
