About
Inala Nature Tours is based at the Inala Conservation Reserve, a 600-hectare (1,500-acre) covenanted property on South Bruny Island, Tasmania. The reserve hosts all twelve of Tasmania's endemic bird species and one of the largest known breeding populations of the endangered Forty-spotted Pardalote, which can be observed from a purpose-built canopy platform; the property also includes Australia's only hide tailor-made for raptor viewing.
The company is run by founder Dr Tonia Cochran, a trained botanist and zoologist who has guided birding and natural-history tours throughout Tasmania, mainland Australia and overseas. Tours range from half-day walks at Inala and full Bruny Island days through to multi-day Tasmanian itineraries that include flights to remote Melaleuca for the critically endangered Orange-bellied Parrot.
