About
Eaglenest Birding is the birding-tour operation of APACETS, a Delhi-registered outfit set up specifically to develop sustainable birding tourism around Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary in the West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. The sanctuary, made famous in 2006 by Ramana Athreya's description of the Bugun Liocichla, is now one of the most sought-after birding destinations in Asia, with more than 600 species recorded across an altitudinal range from sub-tropical lowlands to oak-rhododendron forest above Sela Pass.
The company runs fixed and tailored itineraries that string together Guwahati, Nameri, Dirang, the Mandala-Shangti high-elevation circuit, and Eaglenest itself, working closely with local Bugun community guides who are responsible for most modern Bugun Liocichla sightings.
It is operated by the same Delhi office as India Birding Tours but markets Eaglenest separately, reflecting how unusual the sanctuary's species set is within the wider Indian birding circuit.
