About

Colorado Birding Adventures runs custom individual and small-group birding tours across Colorado's five life zones, with a particular focus on the Northern Front Range and the state's grouse leks, alpine peaks and shortgrass prairies. The company markets itself around the "Prairies to Peaks" concept, taking advantage of Colorado's dramatic elevational range to deliver wide species lists. The team brings serious birding credentials: owner-guide Joel Such grew up in Colorado's foothills and spent seven years working on cloud-forest conservation in Colombia's Western Andes; co-founder Carl Bendorf is a past president of the Iowa Ornithologists' Union and founded Iowa Young Birders; and guide Bill Schmoker is a long-time digital bird photographer with more than 650 North American species documented since 2001. Beyond Colorado, the company also partners with WildVida Expeditions for trips to Colombia.
