About
Coates Wildlife Tours is a family-owned operator established in 1986 by Western Australian naturalist Kevin Coate, and is widely cited as the first company in WA to specialise in dedicated natural-history travel. The business runs small-group itineraries (typically 6 to 12 passengers) led by professional ornithologist and naturalist guides, covering southwestern Western Australia's endemic-rich heathlands, the Kimberley, the Pilbara and a roster of cross-border outback expeditions.
In addition to dedicated birding trips, the company runs combined wildlife, botany and Aboriginal-culture itineraries, and is a long-standing member of organisations promoting sustainable nature-based tourism in Australia.
