About
Ciro Albano is a Fortaleza-born ornithologist and bird guide who has specialised in Northeast Brazil since the mid-2000s. He trained as a biologist and joined the conservation NGO Aquasis in 2003 working on bird research, then moved into guiding in 2006 after Brazilian colleagues began asking him to lead tours through Ceará, Bahia and the wider Caatinga.
He is widely cited by international tour companies as the leading field ornithologist for Northeast Brazil's endemics, with a track record of finding Lear's Macaw, the Araripe Manakin, Pink-legged Graveteiro and a long list of Caatinga and Northeast Atlantic Forest specialties. He co-founded and continues to lead trips for Brazil Birding Experts and is published in Neotropical Birding and other journals.
