China Exploration

China Exploration is a Chengdu-based adventure and wildlife tour operator that runs dedicated birding itineraries across the country's most biodiverse provinces, with particular strength in Sichuan and the Tibetan plateau. Sichuan alone has recorded over 600 bird species and roughly 60 of China's endemics, giving the company access to some of the most coveted targets in Asian ornithology. Their signature programmes include the Wawushan Bird Watching Tour and the Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou route, both built around endemic pheasants, parrotbills and laughingthrushes. The Qinghai Lake itinerary adds high-altitude waterbirds at the country's largest inland saline lake. Tours are private and led by local naturalist guides familiar with each region's pheasant leks and forest specialities.
