About
Cape Town Pelagics has been running dedicated seabird day-trips out of Simon's Town harbour since 2000, and is widely regarded as one of the best-organised pelagic operations in the southern hemisphere. Trips push 25–40 nautical miles offshore past Cape Point in search of trawlers, where guests routinely encounter three to seven albatross species in a single outing alongside petrels, prions and shearwaters.
The operation is run in partnership with Birding Africa and staffed by experienced seabird guides. Uniquely, all trip profits are donated to seabird research and conservation, including BirdLife International's Save the Albatross campaign — over R130,000 has been raised to date.
