About
Bogota Birding & Colombia Wildlife Tours is a Bogotá-based bird and wildlife operator owned and led by biologist Oswaldo Cortés, with a small team that includes guide Daira Ximena Villagran. Oswaldo has been birding across Colombia for more than twelve years, has led trips through the three Andean ranges, the Chocó, Amazon and Santa Marta, and contributed to the revised edition of the Field Guide to the Birds of Colombia (2014).
The company runs day tours around Bogotá and the Eastern Andes — including classic high-elevation endemics like Bogotá Rail and Apolinar's Wren — alongside 6-, 14- and 20-day countrywide itineraries that reach Santa Marta, Cartagena, Cali, the Llanos and the Amazon. Itineraries range from hardcore endemic-chasing trips to more relaxed mixed nature tours that also cover orchids, butterflies, herps and photography.
Oswaldo's research background — including work on Chestnut-bellied Hummingbird, Niceforo's Wren and Colombian Mountain-Grackle — shapes the company's strong emphasis on threatened and range-restricted species.
