About
Birding Paradise is a privately owned one-hectare reforested reserve and small lodge in the village of Paraíso, in Panama's Chiriquí province, created and run by Panamanian guide Mishael Rivera Atencio. Rivera spent 18 years reforesting former grassland into a botanical garden and feeder station that has now logged 374 bird species.
The reserve is one of the easiest places in Panama to see Pacific-slope specialties shared with Costa Rica's Osa region — Riverside Wren, Black-hooded Antshrike, Charming Hummingbird and Spot-crowned Euphonia — and operates around 40 hummingbird feeders. Rivera offers guided walks for visiting birders and small groups, plus on-site lodging.
The operation is a single-guide business model rather than a traditional tour company, and is most often booked as a 1–2 night extension to broader Chiriquí itineraries.
