About
Birding Jujuy, trading as Yanavico Expediciones de Naturaleza, is a local guiding operation in Jujuy province in the far northwest of Argentina, close to the Bolivian and Chilean borders. The team runs tailored birding and natural-history trips across a striking elevational gradient from around 300 metres to over 6,000 metres.
Itineraries traverse the dry Chaco, Yungas cloud forest (notably Calilegua National Park), Monte scrubland, Puna steppe with sites such as Lake Pozuelos, and the High Andes. The region holds more than 600 bird species, including northwest Argentine specialities like the Red-faced Guan, Tucuman Mountain Finch, Rufous-throated Dipper and large concentrations of flamingos and waterbirds on the altiplano lakes.
