About
Birding Is The World Brazil is run by husband-and-wife team Maira and Jeffrey Oakar from a Denver, Colorado base. Maira, originally from Belo Horizonte, trained as a biologist and works as a wildlife photographer; Jeffrey is an award-winning documentary photographer. The pair design and lead small-group birding and photography trips into Brazil for North-American clients.
Itineraries cover the country's headline biomes — Atlantic Rainforest, Amazon, Pantanal, Cerrado and Iguazu — with logistics handled bilingually across English and Portuguese. The company has recently launched Sisterhood Birding, a women-only birding programme that runs alongside its mixed departures.
