About

Atitlan Nature Birding Tours is a Santiago Atitlan-based local outfit run by guide Diego and his nephew Manuel, with associate guide Josabak. The company is certified by Audubon International and endorsed by INGUAT and operates exclusively in the Lake Atitlan basin, with an emphasis on the cloud-forest slopes above Santiago for the Horned Guan and Resplendent Quetzal as well as the lakeside wetlands for waterbirds and migrants. Trips run from short half-day shore walks to multi-day customised circuits across the south and west shore Tz'utujil and Kaqchikel villages, and the company publishes a regional list of more than 250 documented species. Guides operate under the Guatemalan Birder Code of Ethics.
