Algarve Birdman

Algarve Birdman is the solo guiding outfit of Simon Wates, an English birder who took up the hobby as an eleven-year-old in Manchester and moved to Iberia in 1983. He has spent four decades birding southern Spain and Portugal, building detailed local knowledge of the western Algarve, the Sagres peninsula migration watchpoint, and the steppic Baixo Alentejo. He runs tailored private tours focused on harder-to-see specialities rather than simply chasing big lists, and accommodates both species-hungry listers and slower-paced birders. He also guides for butterflies, orchids, and general wildlife photography in the same area.
